Changing seasons…
We would like to believe what we are doing as Harp & Lyre is not for ourselves only, but that we have been taking part in the shaping and shifting of music as we know it through a community of bands and listeners. We all play a role in the expression of our lives through music and the provocation to act through it. We are deeply moved by those of you who have invested so much into what Harp & Lyre has tried to achieve in the last 4 years. It has prompted more growth than you may see and we are very grateful. We are asking for your continual support and participation not only through what we will be doing but through the community of artists and musicians that will continue to provide refuge so many of us seek.
It would be easy for us to press on with “business as usual”, but moving forward with that mantra would contradict all that we have believed about our purpose in the music community. We have known this band is temporary and will be used in whatever capacity the Lord has planned for it, and so that knowledge remains, inviting the reality of change. As the intentions of Harp have come more into focus we have felt compelled, by no other means than the prompting of our heavenly Father, to walk away from the routine we have maintained since late 2008. Our hearts have been expanding for those within our home city and in the communities we seek while off the road. A new season is being ushered in and with it comes a very different direction for us. We are not announcing that this is the end but merely acknowledging and communicating there will be a severe change to come as Harp & Lyre.
The intense desire to create and sing songs of life and love of our Creator remain within our hearts. We wish to continue writing and recording music to share with those of you who care to listen, but no longer will we be approaching Harp as a full time endeavor that will require months away from our homes. The sacrifice we have put in has been worth every cent and second. Years of relying on the Lord to help with rent, bills, food, and shelter have helped build our faith and understanding of provision. The family we have been given through touring will be the hardest to leave behind. Never did we think Harp would experience all that we have but the Father is good to have knit our hearts together with so many that have influenced us in ways they will never know. Again, we thank you!
We have some ideas what and where the Father will lead us in the coming months but the picture is not complete. We have committed our lives to obedience to the Lord and we joyfully move forward in this new season. Oklahoma City is where we will begin this new chapter, exactly where we began the last. We will do what we can as a musical entity, when time allows, for we sincerely cherish the brotherhood Christ has gifted us with through means of Harp by the unification of song. Please be patient with us as we cannot give insight to what the future will hold for Harp & Lyre but continue pursuing the community we so desperately long to see. Continue creating, loving, and seeking truth to unify those without Hope, without a vision, and without direction. We support you all just as you have supported us. Words can’t describe the love and honor we have for you! May God bless you all.
